Enhancement and minutiae extraction for low-quality latent fingerprints
This research project is developed as part of the M.Sc. Forensic Science curriculum. The system focuses on enhancing degraded latent fingerprints and extracting minutiae features using AI-assisted image processing techniques to support forensic examination.
Detects fingerprint presence within the input image.
Improves ridge clarity while preserving structural integrity.
Separates fingerprint region from background noise.
Reduces ridges to one-pixel width for feature extraction.
Identifies ridge endings and bifurcations for analysis.
Note: Image upload and live fingerprint processing are enabled only for demonstration purposes. The uploaded image is forwarded to a controlled backend processing environment for analysis.
The output below displays the enhanced fingerprint along with extracted minutiae, generated by the backend processing pipeline.
